Upbility is an international publishing house specialized in educational resources for children with special needs.

I have been collaborating with Upbility since 2016, contributing to the Italian edition of over 40 e-books, translating or revising the texts from English to Italian, and handling the formatting.

Translating children’s books: the challenge

Upbility’s texts consist of simple and concise sentences and are added to with images, often essential for understanding the context and translating appropriately. To tackle this, I perform the Italian translation directly in the formatted file, ensuring all images are properly integrated, using software like Adobe InDesign or Canva.

If you also need to translate a text rich in images into Italian, I recommend considering my translation and formatting service.

Another feature of Upbility’s e-books is that they often contain language games and exercises to improve reading or pronunciation of specific sounds. Not all these games can be replicated in Italian, which often requires adapting the text to suit the specifics of the Italian language like in the example below, taken from one of my translations.
